This summer I went to the wedding of one of my best friends in Vienna, Austria and it was amazing! My friend’s name is Lukas and he married Johanna, a lovely girl from Ecuador.
Around 6 months before the wedding, I was in Mexico when I received the invitation and then in July, I flew to Austria.
Travel with purpose
I was so happy to be back in Vienna because four years ago I spent a semester abroad there; you can read more about it in the blog post How to win the Ernst Mach Grant for a semester or year abroad in Austria
1. The Church
Peterskirche is a beautiful church located in the center on Vienna. It’s very close to Stephan’s Cathedral and I loved it because of its architecture, style and the amazing vibe around it; there are carriages pulled by horses and the streets are full of nice classic buildings.
2. The Wedding Ceremony
As Johanna is from Ecuador and Lukaz is from Austria the wedding was hold half in Spanish and half in German.
You can see a snap from the ceremony here: https://youtu.be/NWyJqcaiDME
After the wedding ceremony we went in front of Ecuador’s Embassy to congratulate the newlyweds and we had wine and canapes.
3. The Bridesmaids and Groomsmen
The bridesmaids were wearing yellow dresses that went in line with the yellow sunflowers that were decorating the whole wedding.
4. The Palace
Dinner took place in a beautiful palace. In front of it there was a garden surrounded by a big forest.
5. The Dinner
We eat delicious dinner and it was very special because many of the friends and family of Johanna and Lukas make brief speeches congratulating them and we also saw a video created by Luka’s sister Connie.
6. The Party
Johanna prepared a special dance show with her girlfriends and we played typical wedding games.
We also saw a great fireworks show.
You can watch the fireworks here: https://youtu.be/69W3r05TDVY
And danced all night long!
That is one incredible wedding. I loved your dress too

The wedding looks like it’s out of a fairy tale! My heritage is Austrian, so I would love to visit Vienna someday!
