Tulbagh Valley as a sought after wine and tourism destination. It is located in the Winelands of the Western Cape and is the 4th oldest town in South Africa (after Cape Town, Stellenbosch and Swellendam).

It’s very easy to get to Tulbagh, its only 125 km away from Cape Town which is a 90-minute drive.

The 5 places you can’t miss in Tulbagh are:

  1. Saronsberg Wine Estate
  2. Twee Jonge Gezellen Wine Estate (Krone MCC)
  3. Diggers Home
  4. Makers mark
  5. Made in Tulbagh

Saronsberg Wine Estate is a magical place. You have the option to taste wine while watching the magnificent Saronsberg mountain; or visit its cellar, which is a contemporary building with a beautifully finished tasting room and an art collection.

The wine state also offers accommodation and serves as a weddings and conferences venue.

2. Twee Jonge Gezellen Wine Estate (Krone MCC)

Krone is a range of Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) and still wines. The 300-year-old farm has been restored and is open to the public for tastings as well as gallery and cellar tours.

But, what is MCC? it is the South African term used to describe sparkling wines made by the classic French Méthode Champenoise.

Under an agreement with France, South Africa does not use the term ‘champagne’ which, correctly, is a geographic term describing the sparkling wines from the Champagne area of France. Interesting, right?

3. Diggers Home

Nestled between mountains and vineyards, Diggers Home Farm offers a new wine cellar, tasting room, and kitchen. The kitchen serves breakfasts from 8:30 to 11:00 hrs. and is then open for lunch or tapas-style snacks from 12:00 to 15:30 hrs.

My favorite were the views – beauty surrounds you from every corner!

4. Makers Mark
